Fresh and stylish, with a racy, silky feel to the plum, anise and linzer torte flavors, backed by a lightly spicy finish. Drink now. (10/ 2011)
Dauvergne-Ranvier is the work of Jean-Francois Ranvier and Francois Dauvergne, two dynamic frenchmen with a love for wine and a respect for the origins from which they come. Working with a network of consciencious growers throughout the Rhone Valley, the team produces a range of wines that never belie their sense of place and inherent character. Whether it be a Cote-Rotie, Hemitage, Chateauneuf-du-Pape or Luberon, wines from Dauvergne Ranvier never display power and girth at the expense of finesse. Their "Vins Gourmands" range is meant to imbibe and inspire. Fresh, snappy and by southern Rhone standards light on it's feet at a respectable 13.5%abv, this grenache based red can accompany just about any mediterranean fare that strikes your fancy. Try it slightly chilled with a tuna nicoise salad, vegetarian lasagna or pork chops with sauteed shallots and potatos. 13.5% abv. (Mulan Chan, K&L Rhone and French Regional Wine Buyer)
