While there is an ocean of Pinot Grigio planted in Friuli, it is largely for export. Pinot Bianco is the real grape of choice. Ermacora's Pinot Bianco is 100% un-oaked with incredible richness on the palate delicately balanced by crisp natural acidity. Creamy aromas and flavors with notes of pear, citrus, green apple, and citrus oil make this a delicious, textured white wine to enjoy as an aperitif or paired with soup, egg, or fish dishes. It really blossoms with time in bottle; lay some away for six months up to a couple of years to allow it to develop its full aroma and flavor potential.

Our most current vintage (2011) of directly imported Ermacora white(and red) wines have landed and they are sensationally tasty. The two that I am totally in love with are the Pinot Grigio and this lovely Gem. Our Italian Wine Buyer, Greg St.Clair feels that this is the best of whites from this estate, and I agree that this is an amazingly wonderful Gem, but I am in love with the Pinto Grigio. This Pinot Bianco offers a lush, rich aroma of tropical fruit and cream invites you into its lovely flavors of ripe, yet balanced flavors of the same with a mouthwatering finish. Eby wants this Gem as our house white for the month and whatever the Eb wants, she gets. 13.5% ABV

Pinot Gris

- Also known as Pinot Gris in France, where it originated as a mutation of Pinot Noir. The berries can vary in color from yellowish to bluish-violet producing wines that range from white to slightly pink. The most successful wines from the grape come from the Collio in Friuli (Northeast Italy), where the wines are light- to medium-bodied, crisp, dry and, because of their high acidity, complementary to the region's foods like speck, Prosciutto di San Daniele and polenta. In Alsace, where the grape takes a back seat to more popular varietals like Gewürztraminer and Riesling, it is generally rich and honeyed. Other successful plantings of Pinot Grigio exist in Austria, Germany, Hungary and Romania, with even smaller amounts planted in British Columbia, Australia, New Zealand and California.
