90+ points. The 2010 P.S. Syrah bursts from the glass with serious intensity, depth and richness. Layers of varietally expressive fruit grow in the glass, leading to a huge, juicy finish. This Syrah, from Piedrasassi’s entry-level P.S. range, is absolutely delicious. At the same time, I must warn readers that wines made with no SO2 are often extraordinarily vivid when tasted on site, but tend to travel very poorly. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015. (8/ 2012)
"P.S." is an "entry level" Syrah from Piedrasassi, a growing label from Central Coast superstar Sashi Moorman. It is made with the same first-class fruit that goes into the winery's more expensive single-vineyard and Central Coast bottlings. With another vintage with reduced yields in 2010, you can expect the same compexity, lift and balance in this bottling, with floral and cracked pepper notes accenting a medley of bright red and darker blackberry fruits. With substantial fruit density and fine tannin and acid structure, this can be enjoyed young with a variety of foods or laid away a few years for further development in bottle.
