The typical complex make-up of 69% sauvignon blanc and 31% semillon, with 47% of the wine fermented in French oak, 74% new. The ultra-fragrant bouquet and intense palate are most remarkable for the way they have absorbed the barrel fermentation; it's also virtually impossible to decide whether the aromas and flavours are on the citrus/herbal side, or the riper passionfruit spectrum.

Composed of 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Semillon, 47% of the 2011 Cullen Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Semillon was fermented in French oak (74% new). It displays youthfully subdued notes of lemon peel, green apples and grapefruit with hints of wet pebbles, toast and coriander seed. Light-bodied, dry and very refreshing in the mouth, it has vibrant citrus fruit flavors and long tangy finish. It's OK to drink now in this primary stage though it will improve significantly in the bottle and should drink best 2014 to 2022+.

(69% sauvignon blanc and 31% semillon): Pale gold. Candied pear, lemon curd and a touch of chalky minerals on the expressive nose. Fresh orchard fruit, citrus zest and honeysuckle flavors are brightened by penetrating but gentle acidity. Opens up with air and finishes with very good energy and length.

K&L Notes
Notes from the winery: "The warm and dry conditions in Margaret River during the 2011 growing season produced optimal conditions for grape development and also led to an early start to vintage. The fruit reached optimal ripeness at a low Baumé resulting in a wine with high natural acidity and great potential for ageing. The fruit was hand harvested and fermented with natural yeasts, with no acid additions and only limited fining. These features gives the expression of terroir a stronger voice in the glass. 69% Sauvignon Blanc, 31% Semillon, from this 100% Certified Biodynamic, carbon neutral, and naturally powered estate located in the Margaret River region of Western Australia.
