In addition to the varietal wines, Norton also produces several blends. The 2009 Privada is made up of 40% Malbec, 30% Merlot, and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from vines ranging in age from 50 to 80 years old, fermented with native yeasts, and raised for 16 months in new French oak. It is a complex offering with an elegant personality, layers of succulent fruit, ample structure, and 2-3 years of aging potential. This outstanding value will be at its best from 2013 to 2024.

Bodegas Norton is back in a big way with their Privada bottling from the very solid 2009 vintage. As was the case in many other regions throughout the world, 2009 was very successful in Mendoza, allowing for a balance of rich, generous texture and fresh, supple fruit. It is all about the blend in this wine, with nearly equal parts Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot contributing. Cedar and currant aromas lead to lots of red fruits on the palate, with cherries and recently ripened red plums leading the way. Given the balance of fruit and freshness in this wine, it should provide lots of pleasure at the dinner table now and over the next few years.
