Dominated by red fruits, this wine also has the structure of 2010. It is firm and concentrated while always fruity and accessible. It could be kept for a few months, but really is ready to drink now. (12/ 2011)
A relatively new Direct Import for us, this has the bright fruit and spice you expect from Beaujolais, but from a concentrated vintage like 2010 it also has layers of flavor and complexity. It is made in the traditional Beaujolais method but has more size and weight than you might expect, with deep raspberry and licorice notes and refreshing acidity. It is ripe and a bit brambly on the palate, with lots of depth. The combination of red fruit and floral notes on the nose, when accompanied by a richer, deeper character and long finish is most appealing. And the aging of part of it in wood casks gives it an additional layer of complexity. This is not your typical, light, tutti-frutti Beaujolais. Just try it and you will be astounded at the value it represents! No wonder this vineyard is one of those slated to be upgraded to Premier Cru status. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy Buyer 03/12)
