Bright gold. Wild, highly aromatic scents of singed orange, pear skin, magnolia, lemongrass, honey and vanilla bean. Broad, deeply concentrated citrus and orchard fruit flavors are braced by dusty minerality, with the exotic vanilla note joined by touches of mace and candied ginger. The floral element comes back on the finish, which is impressively pure, penetrating and persistent. Lots going on now but this will be even better with a few years of bottle age. (6/ 2010)
A broad, buttery style, with ginger, McIntosh apple and heather honey notes that are slightly waxy in feel, but still stay focused through the medium-weight finish. This is very tasty and flattering, but I always prefer the zip of the Les Genêts. Drink now. 100 cases imported. (Web-2010)
