Light yellow-gold. Ripe pear, nectarine and orange on the fragrant spice- and smoke-accented nose. Picks up an exotic iodine quality and a sneaky licorice nuance with air to go with its potent orchard and citrus fruit flavors. Finishes sappy and very long, with firm grip and lingering smokiness. One-third of this wine went through malo and 10% of the barrels were new. (5/ 2012)
Forward on the nose, with oily, toasty, resiny citrus aromas. The palate is full and solid in structure, with sweet, creamy flavors of pear, vanilla and dry barrel-driven spice. Shows tropicality on the finish as well as additional woody sweetness. (12/ 2011)
