They've been farming and producing wines in Sancerre for generations. We are pleased to have been offered this wine, yet again, at such a great price. Soft, subtle mineral notes are wrapped up in aromatics of melon and citrus. Clean, bright and refreshing, this is a perfect little Sauvignon Blanc. Tropical fruit, citrus and spice aromas and flavors, with vibrant acidity and minerality. Perfect for goat milk cheeses or seafood.

Our discerning staff can invariably spot a great bargain when it hits them in the sweet spot of price and palate, and this lovely Sauvignon Blanc made by the Fournier family in the small village of Verdigny in the Sancerre region is an invigorating, lively, citrus-laden and ferociously thirst-quenching value if ever there was one.

I have been a fan of this wine now for several vintages, and it is still one of the best $10 whites we have available for sale. If you are a fan of Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc, if you enjoy Sancerre and Pouilly Fume, but don't want to spend $20 to $30, this is the wine for you. Dry, crisp, clean. Mineral-driven. Notes of fresh herbs and citrus. Great as an aperitif or enjoy with a fresh baguette and your favorite goat cheese.

The new 2011 Vintage of my favorite baby Sancere is back and better than ever! So focused with its crisp minerality and zippy acidity it literally is makes you salivate. I love this wine because it will not only impress your wine connoisseurs but its easy for anyone looking to try a refreshing summer sipper! Cheers

This is one of my favorite wine's in our store! Always delivers for the price point. Great acid which fans out to some great fruit. Then it hit's you with the stoney notes. All this and a nice finish for $10.99! I take it to the farmers market on Sunday and have with the fresh oyster!

Sauvignon Blanc

- One of the best known "international" varieties originally cultivated in France and considered the parent of, with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon. Sauvignon's wonderfully distinctive aromatics generate some of wine's most colorful descriptors, among them "cat pee," herbaceous, grassy, citrusy the world over. In France, the apex of Sauvignon Blanc production is the Loire Valley, in the appellations of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé, where the terroir expresses itself most beautifully through the grape. Sauvignon Blanc is also the leading white grape varietal in Bordeaux, where it is paired with the fatter, richer Sémillon to varying degrees. Relatively easy to cultivate, though more suited to cool climates, Sauvignon Blanc has made inroads in Europe outside of France, especially in Northeastern Italy's Friuli and Alto Adige, but also on the Slovenian border. These lovely wines are often overshadowed by Sauvignon Blanc's achievements in the New World, namely New Zealand, South Africa and California. New Zealand's Sauvignon Blancs, more conspicuously fruity than most French examples, landed the small island nation on the world wine map in the late-1980s and 1990s. South African Sauvignons are one of the most successful international varieties produced in that country and are often quite elegant and affordable. In California, Robert Mondavi managed to, almost single-handedly, created a market for Sauvignon Blanc by renaming his oak-fermented version Fumé Blanc. While some wineries still use the name, California Sauvignon Blanc has secured its place in the California wine pantheon, particularly those from the Napa Valley. Washington State, Chile and Argentina also have considerable plantings of the grape.
