1996 Lopez de Heredia "Viña Tondonia" Blanco Reserva Rioja

SKU #1094817 90 points Wine Spectator

This traditional white is lean, but still very fresh, offering flavors of dried apple, subtle vanilla, herb and lanolin. Not vivid, but focused, with lively acidity to match with food. Drink now through 2016. (9/ 2012)

K&L Notes

Yet another fantastic wine from Lopez de Heredia, the Rioja producer behind some of the K&L staff's all-time favorite wines. Made from 90% Viura and 10% Malvasia, this is aged for six years in barrel and then held until its recent release. Perhaps the best of recent vintages, it is smooth and round with the estate's trademark developed nose and palate. Try it with grilled fish.
