The 2006 Syrah Hickinbotham Vineyard combines a voluptuous flavor profile with enough ripe tannin to evolve for 6-8 years. Drink it from 2015 to 2031. (97+) (2/ 2009)
Opaque violet. Initially brooding nose quickly opened to display powerful raspberry, kirsch and violet scents. Vivid red and dark berry flavors are corralled by nervy minerality and silky tannins, with anise and rose pastille notes building on the back end. Blends depth, sweetness and finesse with a deft hand, finishing with mounting sweetness but no candied character. Pretty cool stuff. (10/ 2008)
Rich and ripe, displaying a peppermint character that adds interest to the generous blackberry and cherry flavors. Firm tannins support the nicely focused finish. Best from 2009 through 2016. (10/ 2008)
