For consumers used to Barossa-style Shiraz, this will prove an interesting diversion. The aromas and flavors are crisper and spicier, ranging from floral notes and blueberry to star anise and stone fruit. It’s round in the mouth and lushly textured, yet not unstructured, suggesting 10 or more years of ageability, although it is delicious now. (9/ 2009)
Deeply garnet colored, the 2006 Reserve Shiraz is just starting to open into a wonderful array of floral and dark berry aromas plus supporting notes of cedar, chocolate covered cherries, cloves and star anise. Rich and full-bodied with medium-high acid and a medium level of velvety tannins, this wine finishes long with just a bit of oak still jutting out. Approachable now, this wine should be at its best between 2012 and 2022+. (6/ 2010)
Bright red. Seductively perfumed nose displays raspberry, strawberry preserves and flowers, plus hints of smoky minerals and Asian spices. Silky in texture, with sweet, pure red berry flavors and fully absorbed tannins. Becomes more tangy on the focused, long finish. (9/ 2008)
