Another brilliant offering from Chamfort is their 2010 Vacqueyras, made from the same blend as the 2009. A fabulous value, it exhibits a dense purple color as well as lots of sweet cherry and black currant fruit intermixed with licorice, barbecue smoke and truffles. Earthy, peppery, spicy and full-bodied, it should be drunk over the next 7-8 years. (10/ 2011)
Tremendous value from Vasco Urruty Perdigao of Domaine Chamfort. His first wine making venture was as an employee at Yves Cuilleron in Condrieu, then Provence and in Gigondas, before learning that Domaine Chamfort in Sablet was for sale. It was in 2007 that he purchased the entire property. Today, Vasco runs the 21 hectare operation and oversees all cellar work. Obsessed with finesse and balance, his wines nonetheless are not shy on color and power. Vasco makes a Sablet from a 5.5 hectare vineyard, a Rasteau, and a Vacqueyras (ten-hectare parcel) composed of mourvèdre, grenache and syrah. The 2009 Vacqueyras exhibits a myriad of complex flavors, undefinable class and breed and impressive finish. 14.5% abv.
