Situated equidistant from the cities of Pisa, Florence, and Siena, outside San Gimignano in the heart of Tuscany, Villa Pillo is a traditional Tuscan estate that traces its roots bact to the Medieval era. Named after the animal depicted on the label, (a wild boar dressed in a dinner coat with grapes in hoof), "Cingalino" is a fun, food-friendly red blend meant for easy drinking. Composed of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc that fermented separately and then were blended and aged for six months in once-used French oak, the 2011 displays ripe blackberry and plum aromas and flavors, with leafy floral highlights, meaty undertones, and hints of smokey spice. Enjoy with a variety of foods, from grilled meats and pastas with tomato sauce to assorted cheeses.
