This delicious Pinot Noir comes the negociant firm of Bouchard Ainé, established in 1750 and now owned by Boisset, but run independently. It is evidence of the quality of the 2009 vintage. In the glass the wine is rich and complex, with a lovely note of rose petals on the nose and a satisfying mid-palate. This is a remarkable amount of wine for the money! A light bright and very drinkable Bourgogne Rouge. Crunchy red fruits, subtle spice and tart acidity. Good food lighter dishes even grilled seafood. Very good value for sub $15 Pinot!

The top wines from a good vintage in any region are always good,easily done to find the headline names and taste their greatness, it is the wines at the more affordable end of a good vintage that really peak my interest. This little Bourgorne Rouge is absolutely killer for the price. Dark fruit, spice, vibrant acid, brilliant for the price, buy it by the case

Buy this by the case whilst it lasts, Burgundy at the this price? One of my favorite Pinot Noirs in the store currently.Try one today and will understand why..

Good, interesting and cheap (as in $$) Pinot is hard to find anywhere, but from Burgundy, it is really unusual. When we first tried this wine, I was a little on the fence. It was good Pinot, and for the money it beat any thing we had from CA. For that reason alone, I was happy to sell it. Having had it again recently I was struck by its complexity. Now this isn’t great Burgundy, it will not change your life, but it will not put you into debt either! This has elegance, a touch of mid palate richness and it finishes nicely. Dark fruit and red berries with a hint of something floral and a touch of earth and oak. This is more than just a good for the money Pinot!

well I could probably get through two of these by myself in a single sitting. So easy and vibrant. Not a cheap version of the big red burgs, but probably the best pinot in the store under $15. It's fresh and juicy with powerful acidity that makes it completely food friendly. A true value!

What is not to like here? This is a ridiculously inexpensive red Burgundy and an absolutely lovely wine. It has a lovely nose, expressly Burgundian and slightly floral, with a pleasing mid weight palate feel just asking for some grilled salmon. This is definitely found in my house as a summer winner.

This 2009 Pinot Noir is medium-bodied and bursts with pure varietal flavors and aromas of rose petal, black cherry and raspberry, delicately balanced with sweet vanilla notes and soft tannins.

The greatness of 2009 in Burgundy is its depth- and this is a great example. Normally a very simple wine, in 2009, the Bouchard Aine is the best Pinot Noir deal in the store for folks (like me!) who like a more elegant style. If you are curious about Burgundy, now is the time to act!

A lovely wine at a great price! Very easy drinking, food friendly, low in alcohol, and will make a wonderful wine to pair with many laid back summer meals, perhaps a sandwhich of sliced lamb with rosemary aioli, bagels and lox, or just a simple roast chicken with a melange of vegetables tossed with Herbes de Provance and a splash of olive oil.

Pinot Noir

- One of France's most legendary grapes and the grape that earned Burgundy its reputation. The parent of varietals like Pinot Gris/Grigio and Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir is blue to violet to indigo in color with relatively thin skins, and it is said to have been cultivated in France for more than 2,000 years. At its best, Pinot Noir creates elegant wines that are filled with primary red fruit aromas and flavors while young, revealing with an array of secondary characteristics like earth, smoke, violet, truffle and game with age. The varietal is also known, perhaps better than any, for its ability to translate terroir, or a sense of place. While the best Pinot Noir still comes from Burgundy, it is being produced with increasing success in cooler climates around the world. In France, it is part of the trifecta of grapes that can go into Champagne, and it is also grown in Alsace, Irancy, Jura, Savoie, Lorraine and Sancerre. Outside of France it is produced under the names Pinot Nero and Blauburgunder in Italy's mountainous regions, as Spätburgunder in Germany and as Blauburgunder in Austria. In the US, Pinot Noir has found suitable growing conditions in the cooler parts of California, including Carneros, the Russian River Valley, the Anderson Valley, the Sonoma Coast, Monterey County, the Santa Lucia Highlands and Santa Barbara County, as well as in Oregon's Willamette Valley. In recent years, New Zealand has demonstrated its ability to interpret this hard-to-grow varietal, with successful bottlings coming from careful and attentive growers in Central Otago, Martinborough and Canterbury. Chile is also an up-and-coming region for Pinot Noir, creating fresh, fruit-forward, early-drinking and affordable Pinots from the coastal Casablanca Valley and the Limari Valley.

- The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Côte d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Côte de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Côte de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Côte Chalonnaise and the Mâconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Côte d'Or.
