2010 Domaine de Viranel "Trilogie" Vin de Pays de Cessenon Rouge

SKU #1093331

From Château Viranel, deep in the south of France, comes the delectable Trilogie rouge. Composed of 34% Syrah, 33% Alicante Bouschet (from vineyards planed in 1946) and 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, this Languedoc red is vinified in a combination of stainless steel and concrete. Zero oak influence allows nothing but gorgeous fruit to shine through. Dark plum, violet nuances are evident, along with just the lightest hint of spicecake on the crisp and fine finish. At a modest 13.5% abv, the Trilogie rouge is a Languedoc red that can be paired with a wide variety of cuisines, including roast duck, grilled sausage with lentils or grilled tuna steaks. Take a trip to the south of France with Viranel's Trilogie! 13.5% abv.

With all the vampiric, zombie, hobbit and pirate trilogies out there in the film and publishing stratosphere, it's a pleasure to settle down to one 'Trilogie' that you can actually drink with a meal. This triple-play wonder(Syrah, Alicante Bouschet and Cabernet Sauvignon) hails from Domaine de Viranel, a favorite French regional producer known to deliver incredibly flavorful, balanced and priceworthy wines to our discerning customers. Generously warm and inviting unoaked black fruits expand on the palate with gentle spice notes, leaving the lasting impression that, for a wine of this complexity and price, less is indeed more. Strongly recommended!

Produced from a blend of Syrah (34%), old vine Alicante Bouschet (33%), and Cabernet Sauvigon, this deeply colored Southern French regional wine shows the pureness of its character with distinctive blackberry to plum-like fruit notes with mild peppery undertones on the nose and in the mouth, and a nice integration and depth of flavor in its long, warm finish. This Gem will definitely be one of our house reds for the month, according to Rusty. (Jim Barr) 13.5% ABV
