On the dry side, firm and taut, with black currant tannins and a dense structure. This is a powerful, intense wine, cut through with acidity, finishing dry.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The purple/black 2007 Barros exhibits a lovely perfume of black currant, fresh herbs (sage and rosemary), Asian spices, and floral notes. This leads to an elegantly styled, silky Port with good concentration but only average volume. This pretty effort can be enjoyed relatively early but should continue to drink well through 2027.

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Full, bright ruby. High-pitched aromas of blackberry, licorice, violet and nutty oak. Juicy, spicy and high-pitched, with moderately dense fla vors of black fruits, spices and violet nicely framed by firm, integrated acidity. A nicely delineated, pure midweight whose firm acid/tannin edge calls for at least seven or eight years of cellaring. A good showing today, though.

(Barrel Tasting) Stemmy and very fruity, almost jammy, with lots of raspberry. Full-bodied and very sweet, with round tannins and a clean, fruity finish. A little short, but clean and attractive. (Web-2009)
