Firm, concentrated and well-built, with a tight band of cedar, dried berry, black licorice and crushed rock. Ends with good length and depth. Drink now through 2022. (11/ 2012)
The 2009 Amici Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon was selected from vineyards on Howell Mountain and in St. Helena. The 2009 vintage presented a perfect summer growing season, but it was October separated the men from the boys at the wineries. Unlike many (and usually more expensive) producers that pushed the hangtime of their grapes, Amici picked their grapes at peak ripeness before torrential rains compromised and diluted many of the neighbors' crops. A blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, and 6% Petit Verdot, this Cabernet can be described as having a nose of blackberry, coffee, and vanilla with a palate showing casiss, caramel, and mocha.
