Raised for just over ten months in 32% new oak, the 2010 Pinotage has a very attractive bouquet of blueberry, dark plum, pressed flowers and a hint of wild mint. The palate is medium-bodied with a crisp, citric entry. (12/ 2012)
Southern Right is a winery in South Africa's Walker Bay specializing in Pinotage and Sauvignon Blanc. Owner Anthony Hamilton Russel chose cool, clay-soiled vineyards for his Pinotage with the goal of creating a refined, ageworthy style of wine from the grape. The wine succeeds in offering layers of berry fruit, classic wood spice notes, subtle smoke, minerals and an elegant texture, with none of the burnt rubber quality that is so often associated with lesser versions of the varietal.
