Pretty blackberry and blueberry character with medium to full body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. (4/ 2012)
This is a traditional, authentic example of Cantemerle’s vineyard as well as its general winemaking style. Elegant and mid-weight with a finesse-filled style, the 2011 exhibits a dark ruby hue with purple nuances in addition to a bouquet of mulberries, cranberries and black cherries intermixed with flowers and forest floor. Medium-bodied and soft as well as crunchy and vibrant, it can be enjoyed over the next 10-12 years. (4/ 2012)
Supple and nicely focused, with currant, plum and cherry notes judiciously toasted, which lets a pretty floral note chime on the finish. (4/ 2012)
*½ Great nose. So fruity. A fabulous wine. Trey: Great balance, sweet fruit-almost jammy plum and red fruits-minerals, lots of spice. Polished. RS: Sweet raspberries and black fruits, very floral, with herbal notes and earth all pulled together by round, firm tannins and a very long finish. Tasted twice. I'm 56 years old and Cantemerle is now my #1 favorite château, and I seriously doubt that will ever change. The reason is simple: great, complex wine, consistent quality and a fair price. A winner every time! ** AP: Along with La Lagune, this property stands out for being a perennial value and a top producer from its commune.
