Located in Umbria, Roccafiore farms their eleven hectares of vineyards organically and produces outstanding red and white wines according to traditional methods that have been passed down through generations, with only a few modern updates. The 2010 Fiorfiore Bianco is 100% Grechetto, the white varietal native to Umbria and specifically to the vineyards surrounding Roccafiore. A controlled fermentation in stainless steel was followed by ageing for one year in large Slavonian oak barrels prior to bottling, with additional ageing in bottle. It is full and lush, exhibiting ripe pineapple, bakend apple, and scented wildflower aromas and flavors, with a distinctive floral and spice complexity. The palate is fleshy and broad, with ample body and balanced acidity, making it a lovely choice to serve with salads, white meats, and creamy cheeses.
