Domaine de la Petite Mairie is owned and managed by Corinne and James Petit, an enthusiastic couple devoted to their little corner of the Loire Valley and its wines so celebrated by Rabelais. They have an uncompromising vision of the expression of the Cabernet Franc grape married to the unique terroir of Bourgeuil. This rosé is bright, dry and delicately spicy. Very refreshing and so darn tasty with food.

This Bourgueil rose is a favorite, with its delicate watermelon and tangy cherry aromas and flavors, smooth mouthfeel, and balanced acidity - the feminine side of Cabernet Franc revealed! It's dry, with refined mineral tone that lends structure without compromising charm for an overall impression of understated elegance. I especially appreciate its versatility at the table! It complements many fresh garden salads and vegetable dishes, and has the acidity to refresh the palate between bites of assorted cheeses and charcuterie, grilled sausages, and roast chicken.

Sheer deliciousness—light, crisp, dry and refreshing, this has a mostly floral personality with very light cherry fruit and an intriguing peppery dimension. That it weighs in at only 12.5% alcohol is beneficial in a wine as winsomely gulp-able and thirst quenching as this. Don’t neglect to try this rose while you have the chance; it usually doesn’t linger long.

Varietal:	Cabernet Franc - While Cabernet Franc, a parent with Sauvignon Blanc to the ubiquitous Cabernet Sauvignon, frequently plays second fiddle in Bordeaux blends (though it does get more props on the Right Bank, where it dominates Cheval Blanc), this lighter, higher acid/lower tannin, early-maturing, perfumed red varietal is far from a wallflower. It is the headliner in the Loire Valley appellations of Saumur-Champigny, Bourgueil, St-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, Chinon and Anjou-Villages, where it makes exceptional, food-friendly wines. Outside of France, Cabernet Franc can be found in northern Italy, particularly in Friuli and in California where it is frequently used as a blending grape in Bordeaux-style wines. Heartier in the cold than Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc is gaining a foothold in northern and eastern wine regions like Canada, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Sub-Region:	Loire - Of all of the French wine producing regions, the Loire might produces the greatest variety of wines. They range from still to sparkling, very dry and acidic to hearty sweet, and clear in color to a deep purple. The diversity of wine produced in this region is due in part to its dynamic climate, which ranges from Continental to Mediterranean. This region is best known for Sauvignon blanc, Chenin blanc and Cabernet Franc. The most famous areas in the Loire Valley may be Sancerre and Vouvray.
