Between two limestone cliffs, among overgrown vines and ancient olive trees, Jean Orliac and his wife Marie-Thérèse discovered the neglected property that would one day become the Domaine L'Hortus--the Latin word for Garden. The Loup Dans La Bergerie is their priced-for-everyday-drinking blend of 40% Syrah, 30% Merlot and 30% Grenache all grown organically in the coarse, alluvial soils of the Vin de Pays du Val de Montferrand. Aged entirely in tank, this red is fresh and lively, with cherry and plum fruit spiked by hints of zesty white pepper and underlying black tea, stone and spice notes. 13% abv.
