Light yellow. Intense aromas of orchard fruits, anise and peppery spices, with a hint of dried flowers in the background. Firm and deeply pitched, offering bitter pear skin and quinine flavors that put on weight with air. Spice and floral notes linger on the very long, sappy, incisive finish. This Champagne has put on substantial weight since last year's release but still comes off as young and taut. (11/ 2012)
This refined Champagne shows a delicate mousse and hints of glazed pear, white peach, wax, anise and crystallized honey. Lively and focused, with a moderate, mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2018. (Web-2011)
This ripe, developed 2002 shows off the attractiveness of this great vintage in Champagne. It is full of ripe apple, croissant, butter and honey. The wine comes together to finish dry with admirable length. Champagne Devaux was founded in 1846 and has been owned by the growers who supply it since 1986. It is composed of half and half Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and should keep for many years to come--but it tastes a little to good now to save! (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)
