2010 Quinta dos Roques Encruzado Dao

SKU #1086754

Encruzado is generally viewed as the most serious white grape variety in the Dao, certainly the variety that is best suited to cellaring. This has a beautiful nose of rich, waxy yellow fruits, ripe apricots, and loquats. Great fruit purity here! On the palate, the wine shows big, unctuous fruit and well balanced traces of oak. While the wine should continue to improve with another few years of bottle age, there is no need to wait as it truly is singing right now - a delicious Portuguese white that should be mandatory drinking for any fan of intense, acid driven, barrel aged white wines! (Joe Manekin, K&L Portuguese wine buyer)

- Although quite small, Portugal produces a great variety of wines ranging from light and fizzy Vinho Verde to hearty and tannic Port. Portugal is Europe's fourth-largest wine-producing region, and has been exporting its wine since the 14th century. The Douro Valley of Portugal is the original and current home for the world's finest Port. The valley spans from east of the city of Oporto all the way to the border of Spain and is the country's best known wine region. Lesser-appreciated DOCs like Bairrada and Dão area also emerging for their fine, rustic reds. Click for a list of bestselling items from Portugal.
