A deceptively soft Champagne. The initial attack is rounded with a delicious pear flavor, but definitely soft. Then tight mineral acidity adds its presence, producing a wine that is also very fresh, apple crisp, with a potential for aging and a long lingering aftertaste. (10/ 2011)
The 2005 Brut Blanc de Blancs flows across the palate with succulent white peaches, graphite, smoke and white flowers. This is a fairly open, seductive vintage for the Blanc de Blancs. The wine shows lovely up-front juiciness and fleshiness in an overt style that is probably best enjoyed over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015. (11/ 2011)
