Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Smoke-accented aromas of pear skin, honey and iodine, with a floral nuance picking up strength with air. Sappy and broad, with deep, stony orchard fruit flavors and notes of chamomile and saffron. Offers an intriguing mix of depth and vibrancy and finishes with solid grip and spicy persistence. Give this a little air if you insist on drinking it now.

Both fragrant and delicate, this offers complex floral, grapefruit, citrus, light oak and honeydew melon flavors perked up by lively acidity, which imparts a mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2016.

Connoisseurs Guide
Ever so slightly pulled back in manner when measured against its cellarmates, Ramey's Sonoma Coast bottling still delivers lots of juicy, young, green-apple fruit accented with suggestions of stones and brightening highlights of citrus. It is balanced to firmness and sustained at the finish, and it is a wine that can be counted on to age famously.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2009 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast is a beautifully woven, chiseled wine laced with lemon, pear, almond and citrus notes. It possesses terrific energy and freshness through to the saline, vibrant finish. This is a terrific wine for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. David Ramey is one of the few California winemakers who thinks in terms of structure, not just flavor, something that sets him apart from many of his peers. All of the wines I tasted at Ramey’s cellar just outside Healdsburg were terrific.
