Medium red. Light aromas of cherry, mint and flowers. Bright, clean and juicy but on the lean side, with a medicinal aspect and slightly drying tannins. (11/ 2011)
As I mentioned in regards to previous wines from Produttori del Barbaresco, the entry level offerings are excellent starting points if you're looking to begin exploring the world of Nebbiolo from Piemonte. These show the softer, more plummy side of the grape, without the huge tannins and often times bracing acidity. There are no oak flavors dampening the inherent aromas and flavors of the grape so what you get is pretty raspberry, light cherry, a touch of menthol and spice on a round frame with excellent "juiciness". Consistantly a great wine vintage in and vintage out. (Chris Miller, LA Italian Wine Specialist) Named a top value in Eric Asimov's article "Wine's Sweet Spot is a $20 Bill" in the NY Times: "Produttori del Barbaresco is one of the world’s finest wine co-ops, offering great values throughout its range. The Langhe nebbiolo is generally made from the grapes of young vines, or grapes that for one reason or another don’t go into the Barbarescos. This is a lighter gauge than a true Barbaresco but still offers all the classic leather, floral and red fruit flavors." (07/2012)
