When at their best, this estate's wines are among the most carefully crafted Zins to be had, and this nicely tailored example makes just that point. It is keenly focused on ripe-berry fruit with complementary highlights of sweet oak, briar, coffee and loam, and its combination of substance and structure only furthers the sense that studied winemaking is at work here. Its firm finishing tannins provide just the right grip to make us true believers in its future. (1/ 2012)
