More serious is the 2009 Crozes-Hermitage Cuvee Louis Belle. Fifty percent stems are used in this 2,000 case cuvee that is also aged in 25% new French oak. From white iron and clay soils near Larnage, this dense purple-colored, masculine-styled 2009 possesses abundant notes of creme de cassis in its full-bodied, rich, packed-and-stacked personality. It will benefit from several years of bottle age and should drink well for 10-15. (2/ 2011)
