*Editors' Choice* Perfectly sweet, unctuous and rich, with lush coffee and cocoa aromas that indicate that complexity is coming. That promise is rewarded on the palate, which hits fifth gear in seconds flat. Flavorwise, it's complex and balanced, with good acidity forcing up orange and honey flavors in addition to raisin and brown sugar. A Wow wine where there finish lasts for minutes on end. (4/ 2012)
Thick and intense, it coats the mouth with burnt molasses, caramel, but also an aged, oxidative note that sets it apart form its peers. Fruitcake, sultana and bitter chocolate accents add to its appeal. It's harmonious and finishes surprisingly elegant. Drink now. (Web-2008)
This is very impressive, incredibly old PX from the Sherry house which arguably has the widest range of soleras both young and old. The wine shows all the delicious rich dried fruit flavors (prunes, figs, dates, currants), spice and roasted coffee bean nuances of great old PX, as well as a surprising amount of acidity which beautifully balances the very high residual sugar. Yes, this is sweet, but it is as balanced a PX as I can ever remember tasting...and one of the best sweet sherries I have yet to drink. What a deliciously indulgent way to end a meal!
