2009 Prieuré Canteloup, Côtes de Bordeaux (Previously $15)
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A potential sleeper of the vintage, this merlot dominated blend reveals an exuberantly fruity, lush wine with lots of blackcurrent, cherry, and plum-like fruit. Full-bodied and fleshy, it is ideal for drinking during its first 5-6 years of life.
The Garonne River flows at the southern edge of this Right Bank estate, located near the small town of Yvrac. Its 10 acres of vineyards are planted to 65% Merlot, 15% Can, 15% Cab Franc and 5% Malbec. Made by the esteemed Stephan Von Neipperg, Clyde loved this wine when he tried it, calling it a superb value.
