Here's a great Cab from a newcomer to the Napa Valley. Located in some of the best territory in the area around Atlas Peak, Fred Oliai has just started a new winery called Alta. They are immediately adjacent to Kongsgaard and currently grow Cabernet for Kongsgaard, but they also have some vines that they’ve blocked off to make wine under their own new label. Currently they have about 10 acres planted and around 8.5 go to Kongsgaard. Through reputation you may be aware that the farming is done meticulously to exact specs of their famous neighbor, and now Fred is making around 200 cases under his own label. He has a good background in fermentation science, including bourbon (in Kentucky) and also beer. We think you'll enjoy tasting the results of a perfectly-situated vineyard combined with a bright and talented upcoming star from the area.
