This has always been a serious wine, delicious if a bit tightly wound upon release, and capable of improving in bottle for some years. The wine is composed of treixadura, godello, albariņo and Loureiro grapes grown on tiny parcels of steep, granitic soil. In 2010, this wine is just incredible: bright, pure, intense, palate staining yellow fruits combine with real minerality to make this an Os Pasas for the ages. To say this is "Burgundian" would be a bit trite, but to compare it to a long lees aged, old vine Muscadet from a top grower like Marc Olivier or Pierre Luneau Papin would be about right. Luis Rodriguez is president of the Ribeiro D.O. - his experience and know how absolutely show through in this stunning white wine.
