A single grape varietal. A single vineyard. Tenuta Sarno sets the trend and Maura Sarno is now the ?rst lady of Fiano. In homage to her father Dominic Sarno, well-known notary of Avellino, Maura set out to recapture the passion and great respect of her father for their land of origin, Candida, located 625 metres above sea level in the comune of Avellino. The desire was to make a Fiano, oldstyle. After completing her studies as Sommelier, she turned her attention to the land. Serious in her quest, she cultivated solely the one varietal and hired consulting Campania enologist Vincenzo Mercurio to work alongside her. Organically farmed, the vineyards are situated on 4.5 hectares and are planted on rich soil deposits of calcareous clay and limestone characteristic of the region- a phenomenon attributable to the great eruption of Mount Vesuvius, back in 1944. Citrus, foral notes and minerals blossom on the mid-palate of this rich, textured white. The long , elegant fnish gives way to notes of honey and toasted hazelnuts. K&L's notes - Hands down, one of the best Fiano d'Avellino I've ever tasted. (Chris Miller, K&L Italian wine specialst)
