Mezcalero isn't a "brand" as it is a collection of stories, the stories of tiny Mexican distilleries, often in remote villages, carefull crafting spirits from roasted agave. The Mezcalero Release #4 is the story of the Joel Antonio Cruz distillery in San Juan del Rio. It is made from two incredibly rare varieties of wild agave--sierra negra and tepeztate. The sierra negra gives this tequila incredible length and finesse, while the tepeztate adds spiciness. K&L's own David Driscoll calls the Mezcaleros the "most exciting series in all of booze."
