T-Vine was founded in 1992 by winemaker Greg Brown, with the intent to produce small lot wines of old vine origins such as Grenache, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. When all the elements come together, just right, magic happens. The Grenache grown in Jim Frediani's Vineyard is truly unique in all the world. The old vines, digging deep into the layers upon layers of soil, the Calistoga heat and the nurturing from Jim himself, result in fruit with a one-of-a-kind personality. Over the past 17 years Greg has learned to capture the maximum expression of this amazing sense of place. This is California Grenache in full, with the added poise and polish of Greg Brown's winemaking skill. The 2009 was aged for eleven months in year-old French oak barrels, adding even more concentration and a kiss of toasty vanilla to the intense black and blue fruit expression of this juicy Grenache. As the winemaker's notes state, "It's like being hit in the face with a fresh baked Grenache Pie."
