Le Petite Ferme is a near self-sustained, working farm and winery situated on the west-facing side of the Middagkrans Mountains, above the Franschoek Valley floor, where it enjoys a cooler climate and variety of soil types dominated by gravel and dry soils with virtually no undergroung moisture - talk about high-draining! Their Cabernet is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, rich in color with excellent concentration. The nose shows classic dark Cabernet aromas and flavors of ripe cassis and blackcurrant, with dark chocolate and that minty, herbal "buchu" character typical of Franschoek wines. The wine was aged for ten months in small French barriques promoting a savory complexity and richness on the palate. Food pairing recommendations include: beef fillet, venison, lamb or mellanzane parmigiano.
