Sourced from such old-vine sites as the Godward Vineyard (100+ year old vines), Julianna Vineyard and Capp Vineyard, and aged in partial new French and Hungarian oak, the 2009 Girard Petite Sirah is inky purple in color and exhibits a dark, intense nose redolent of blackberry pie, Bing cherry, black plum, and toasty vanilla. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with thick tannins and incredible fruit concentration. Baking spice accents carry the finish, which is is lasting. Enjoy this substantial Petite with a hearty beef stew or braised short ribs. Contains 2% Zinfandel.
