(90% carignan and 10% grenache): Bright purple. Intense, perfumed aromas of cherry-cola, black raspberry and violet, with a suave mineral underpinning. Juicy and precise, with very good clarity and lift to its dark fruit and floral pastille flavors. Repeats the mineral and floral notes on the finish, which lingers with very good persistence. This is balanced to age. (9/ 2011)
When we carried this wine a few vintages ago, it was quite a hit - we sold a few thousand bottles. Well, the cooperative that makes this is back on its 'A' game again with the 2009 vintage - a terrific one in Montsant, in all of Catalunya, and throughout Spain. Red fruited and mixed berry aromas lead to juicy, succulent flavors of perfectly ripe fruit, with just a hint of spice and enough acidity to make this versatile for food - equally at home with a burger, pasta, or braised dish. Garnacha and carignane is just one of those combo's that is delicious when well made, as this wonderful wine demonstrates." (Joe Manekin, K&L Spanish wine buyer)
