Francois Chidaine is now making wine in Spain! Yes, the talented Loire valley vigneron best known for various Montlouis and Vouvray bottlings has a Spanish proyecto on his hands. This wine is intensely aromatic, exotic you could say, exploding with black fruits and sweet floral aromas. Vinified completely in tank, there is plenty of richness - tempered by just enough acidity - in the Tempranillo and Monastrell grapes, to make this wine sing. Finishing tannins are assertive, but nothing that the right food pairing couldn't deal with handily; five spice braised short ribs with some mashed potatoes and/or rutabaga would be a good bet.
