Quality is Schloss Schonborn's primary focus, and even with over 650 years of winegrowing tradition, they are continuously improving their quality via innovation and new winemaking philosophy. This estate is one of the founders of the VDP. The average yields are kept low, resulting in wines with good concentration and stable structure. This is a single-vineyard Riesling from Schonborn's Domdechaney vineyard. Fass 74 is the specific fudre that this wine came from, meaning this bottling is a single cask selection from the Domdechaney vineyard. This vineyard is one of the highest sites on the slope, located in the village of Hocheim, just below the church. The soils here are heavy and rich in clay, producing a more masculine style of Riesling.
