The best wine I have ever tasted from this estate run by Philippe Magrez, the son of Bernard Magrez, the 2008 Plaisance Cuvee Alix is a blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc cropped at very low yields. This sleeper of the vintage exhibits charming, lush black cherry and black currant fruit intertwined with hints of smoke and tobacco leaf. Spicy, medium to full-bodied, sexy, and round, it is ideal for drinking over the next 5-7 years. It should also sell for a very realistic price. (4/ 2009)
This wine has evolved magnificently. Rich and round-full of spice and toasty oak. Great value.
