2009 Domaine du Viking Vouvray Tendre
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
Light, bright gold. Exotic aromas of passion fruit, mango, spicecake, jasmine and honey, with a slow-building undercurrent of smoky minerals. Round and sappy on entry, repeating the exotic fruit and floral qualities and providing very good palate coverage. Showing a lot of personality today. Finishes smooth and delineated, with the mango and floral notes echoing.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Fresh pineapple, candied lemon rind, and alkaline, saline maritime suggestions on the nose of the Viking 2009 Vouvray Sec Tendre lead to a firm yet subtly oily, tart yet lightly sweet palate impression, with citrus rind, lanolin, and quinine bitterness gaining prominence in a bracing but also faintly metallic finish.
This opens quickly, with friendly quince, pear and fig notes laced with warm piecrust and ginger hints. Stays juicy enough on the slightly open-knit finish. Drink now.
