An "entry level" Syrah from Piedrasassi, a growing label from Central Coast superstar Sashi Moorman. It is made with the same first-class fruit that goes into the winery's more expensive single-vineyard and Central Coast bottlings. In 2009 that's some pretty remarkable fruit, since the winery only made a single vineyard Rim Rock and no Central Coast. At that, there were only 175 cases of this exceptional value produced. At this price, the chances of any of this wine seeing a nap in your cellar is probably rare--and it is imminently quaffable--but this structured gem with bright fruit and grippy tannins would be fantastic with some bottle age,
