(50% cabernet sauvignon, 21% cabernet franc, 16% merlot and 13% petit verdot): Bright medium ruby. High-pitched aromas and flavors of cassis, mint, crushed stone, licorice and minerals. Tactile, bright and juicy, with a restrained sweetness leavened by vibrant acidity and a bit of menthol. Firmly structured wine, finishing with dusty, rather suave tannins and very good length. (6/ 2011)
True to its avowed aim of being a Claret, this slightly smaller scaled wine shows a sense of constraint and is less preoccupied with ripeness than a good many of its cousins. It does not speak with a loud voice, but it combines low-keyed curranty fruit with light notes of minerals, tea leaves and cedar shavings. It will take well to aging, but it is never so tough as to demand it. (8/ 2011)
