Bernard Tornay "Carte d'Or" Brut Champagne 375ml

SKU #1073611

In half bottle! Champagne Tornay has the luxury of being selective. They own 50 acres of vineyard, and only keep enough wine to make 100,000 bottles a year total, exclusively from Grand and Premier Cru vineyards. Located in the Grand Cru of Bouzy on the Mountain of Reims, this house makes powerful Pinot Noir dominated wines as a rule. The Carte d'Or is composed of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay and is aged for an exceptionally long time. The base wine comes from 2005, but also includes 2004, 2003, 2002 and 2001. It has a Bollinger like scale to it, and fans of toasty, flavorful Champagne are bound to love it. Only because of their fair pricing and K&L's direct purchase are we able to offer such a great value. Try it out! (Gary Westby, K&L Champagne buyer)

Sweet almost candied cherry & apple on the nose. A very toasty, yeasty full bodied champagne with a slightly spicy finish. Good stuff!

Champagne

- The French region of Champagne (comprised of the towns of Rheims, Epernay, and Ay) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and winemaking traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced.
