The ideal subsoils of this estate's vineyards confer an intense aromatic expression, supple tannins, fine balance, and a graceful long finish. 100% cabernet franc, this is vinified traditionally, with a 15 day post-fermentation maceration period, and very gentle extraction. The wine is then aged for 6 - 8 months in tanks deep in the subterranean galleries carved into the soft tuffeau hillside, and then bottled early to capture the essential bright fruit aromas and flavors. Hold for a few years to reveal additional layers of spice, cocoa and floral notes, or enjoy it today for its youthful intensity is at its peak. According to the Wine Spectator: "Light and pure, with a beam of cherry, cherry pit and chalk notes backed by a twinge of herb. Drink now." (03/11)
