An entry level version of Robert Craig's famous "Affinity" Bordeaux style blend, the Mt. George Cuvée is modeled after the wines of the Left Bank, blending 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 9% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot from lots that didn't make the flagship bottling. Aged for six months in French oak, this is more approachable than the Affinity now, but more polished and structured than many wines at the same price point. Aromas of currants and fresh roasted coffee are complemented by violet accents and real vanilla beans. On the palate, the fruit is lush, tending toward cherry and black currant, with spiced coffee and chocolate flavors and silky tannins rounding out the wine. A great wine to drink now while you wait for your heartier Cabs and Cab blends to age.
