San Venanzio Prosecco Brut

SKU #1072010 Wine Enthusiast

Here’s a Prosecco Brut with a fuller, more generous personality that comes across in the form of peach, nectarine and grapefruit aromas. The wine has a light, golden color and offers frothy cream backed by a tight citrus finish. (7/ 2009)

K&L Notes

San Venanzio has won many awards over the years. At K&L they get the coveted "Guido" award two thumbs up and three stars for value. On the nose, there are generous notes of apples, peaches, tropical fruits and pear blossom. It’s wonderfully balanced and elegant, with a pleasurable spiciness. The palate is rich and creamy, with pretty fruit closely mirroring the nose and admirable fullness and length. This is balanced, elegant and an excellent apéritif. Mike Parres K&L San Francisco

One of our favorite Direct Import deals, the San Venanzio is full of fresh pear and peaches and cream, with a refreshing, mineral driven finish that will make you wonder how that first glass disappeared so quickly!

Prosecco at this price rarely has much distinctive character but San Venanzio's Brut is something different. This is one of our Direct Imports hence the low price but quality is superb. The wine comes from Valdobbiadene, the heart of the classic Prosecco DOCG, and has a mineral driven, saline focus to it that is super clean, bright and distinctive finish. Only 11.5% ABV these bubbles are fresh and lively and perfect as an aperitivo or with some fresh Dungeness Crab.

This new direct buy is filled with delicate high tones of floral on the nose and an abundance of upfront pear and peach on the palate. Just found my new BBQ bubble bottle.

While the classic Italian Prosecco is "Extra Dry", with just a touch of sweetness on the finish, this charming sparkling wine from San Venanzio is made in a "Brut" style more familiar to American palates. At a mere 11.5% alcohol and at the very attractive, direct import price of $14.99, it's easy on both your palate and your wallet. Crisp, bone dry, refreshing. Low in alchohol. Low in price. An ideal aperitif you can enjoy every day.

A delightful Prosecco from Italy which is dry but still very soft and elegant on the palate. Perfect Party bubbles for the Holiday season!

Delicious Prosecco. I usually prefer Prosecco done in an "extra dry" style, as I feel the extra touch of sugar accentuates the inherent floral and stone fruit qualities of the grape. Many Proeseccos done in the "Brut" style are often times too "brut" and come of as a little austere, even shrill. This one nails it however. Lots of peachy, key lime and white flower aromas with zesty acidity and surprising depth and length. A deal and a steal at this price. Stock up for all your holiday bubbles sipping. CM

Exactly what I look for in a Prosecco, crisp, refreshing and fruity without being sweet and cloying. Greg did a wonderful job finding this producer to bring in directly, stone and core fruits jump out of the glass, continuing on the palate with a lovely clean mouth feel. A bright lovely drink that is the perfect start of an evening.

On the nose you will find generous fruit, releasing hints of apples, peaches and tropical fruit, plus wisteria blossoms, wonderful balance and elegance complement a pleasurably spiciness. The Palate is velvety, crisp, and fruity, admirable fullness and length, closely mirroring the nose. This is a wine of great balance and elegance and an excellent aperitif for all social occasions.

Bright citrus & apple nose, lovely minerality. A clean and refreshing prosecco for your summer entertaining! I'm thinking fresh black figs wrapped in proscuitto, tiny goat cheese & fontina grilled cheese sandwiches, and musk melon cooled in a creek. Delicious!
